Robert E. “Bob” Allen, 88, of Lexington, a retired building contractor, husband of Fran Fishback Allen, died Monday, Dec. 12, 2016, at Baptist Health Care in Lexington. Born in Trenton in Todd County, he was the son of the late James Talles Sr. and Arbee Williams Allen. A graduate of Trenton High School and the University of Kentucky, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was an active member of the Crestwood Christian Church. In addition to his wife of 47 years, he is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Allen (Bruno) Giordano, St. Louis, Mo., and Robin (Benne Holwerda) Allen, Louisville; a brother, James Talles Allen Jr., Trenton; and five grandchildren, Davis, Luca, and Max Giordano, Charlotte Holwerda, and Marten Holwerda. A daughter, Janet Allen, a son, Douglas W. Allen, and a brother, James Douglas Allen, are deceased. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18 at, the Crestwood Christian Church, 1882 Bellefonte Drive, Lexington. Services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 19, at the church. Following a luncheon at the church, interment and military honors will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the Crestwood Christian Church, 1882 Bellefonte Drive, Lexington, KY 40503, or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 6100 Dutchmans Lane, Suite 401, Louisville, KY 40205.
