Trial date set for man charged with sexual abuse
A three-day jury trial has been scheduled for a 76-year-old Versailles man charged with three counts of first-degree sexual abuse and a single count of third-degree sodomy. Donald Wayne Drury's jury trial is scheduled to begin in Woodford Circuit Court on Oct. 23, 2017. Judge Paul Isaacs set the trial date during his regular rule day docket on Dec. 7. According to an indictment returned in October, Drury committed the sexual abuse offenses when he allegedly subjected a male juvenile (less than 16 years old) to sexual contact. The indictment further alleges that Drury, a former Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement officer, subjected the juvenile to deviant sexual intercourse. The alleged sex crimes occurred from Aug. 15, 2014, to Sept. 1, 2016, the indictment stated. Drury is next scheduled to appear in Woodford Circuit Court for a status hearing on March 1.
