John W. Ward, 55, of 321 Lexington Street, was pronounced dead Friday, Jan. 13, after being struck by a truck on Lexington Road about a half-hour earlier. Police say Ward was crossing the street between Daisy Hill Drive and Maple Street when he was hit by a Ford truck. They were called to the scene at 6:29 p.m. and found Ward laying in the center lane of Lexington Road. Ward was taken by ambulance to UK Chandler Hospital, where the Fayette County Coroner pronounced him dead at 7:01 p.m. Police say the incident is under investigation, but do not expect to file charges against the driver, whose name, as of Tuesday afternoon, they had not released.
