Joyce Witt Olson Currens, 85, widow of Maurice Guy Currens died Sunday, March 12, 2017, at her home in Woodford County. Born Nov. 7, 1931, in Versailles, she was the daughter of the late James Everett Olson and Theodora Kessler Shotwell Olson. She was a longtime member of Versailles Baptist Church, a former member of Rosemont Baptist Church and Clear Creek Baptist Church. She was a member of the Tuesday Trotters Bowling League of Southland Lanes for over 20 years, and was a member of the Pisgah Club of the Woodford County Homemakers for over 25 years. Survivors include two sons, James Calvin (Teresa) Currens and Stephen Douglas Currens, both of Versailles; two grandchildren, Samantha Ann Currens (Jimmy) Brooks, Gainesville, Fla., and Benjamin James Currens, Lexington; three great-grandchildren, Tyler Brooks, Olivia Brooks, and Holden Brooks; a niece and two nephews whom she raised, Cindy Currens (Shelby) Carrier, Nicholasville, Christopher W. Currens, Lexington, and James R. Currens, Frankfort. Two sisters, Shirley Olson Eustice and Ann Olson Young, are deceased. Services were conducted Tuesday, March 14, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home by the Rev. John Brandon. Committal and burial were held Wednesday, March 15, in the Versailles Cemetery.
