Robert Lee "Combs" Maxberry, 64, born May 5, 1952, to the late William Robert and Latina Mae Hoskins Maxberry, departed this life on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, in the comfort of his home. Robert attended Woodford County High School and united with First Baptist Church under the pastorate of the Rev. Thomas Peoples. He drove the church van when needed. He was a truck driver for the City of Versailles and in 2002 he was awarded the Key to the City. Robert is survived by two sons, Christopher (Ryan) Maxberry and Demetrick Samuels; special friend, Betty Sanders; grandson, Kase Maxberry; sister, Judy Sears; brothers William "Buddy" Maxberry and Felix (Sandra) Maxberry, all of Versailles, brothers John "Jackie" (Shirley) Maxberry, of Lawrenceburg, Russell (Angie) Maxberry, of Lexington; aunt, Juanita Newsome, of Detroit; ride diehard, Tony Carter; several nieces and nephews; twenty great-nieces and nephew; and a host of cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carolyn Maxberry. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 21, at First Baptist Church. Pallbearers were Dominique Johnson, George Howard III, Cameron Mattingly, Tie Mulder, Austin Pennie, and Gary Carter Jr. Honorary Pallbearers were Tony Carter, Oliver Jackson, Victor Brown, Garland Jackson, William Campbell, and Earl Brown. Interment and committal service followed at Rose Crest Cemetery. (Paid obituary)
