Michael Gregory Sayre, of Versailles, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2017, at the age of 67. Mike is survived by his wife of 44 years, Marcia Wright Sayre. He was the son of William Sayre and Beth Peavler, both of whom preceded him in death. His beloved basset hounds, BeBe and Abner, also preceded him in death. In addition to his wife, Mike is survived by his dad, Dwight Peavler, of Lexington; his son, James Corey (Kelly) Sayre, of Versailles; his daughter, Kate Sayre (Adam) McDonald, of Simpsonville; his five grandchildren, Kennedy and Reid Sayre, of Versailles, and Adam, Jack and Will McDonald, of Simpsonville. Mike graduated from Tates Creek High School and received his B.S. from Western Kentucky University in 1974. He worked in Human Resources in Kentucky, South Carolina and Seymour, Indiana. While in Seymour, he was a member of the Noon Lions Club and served on the boards for Big Brothers Big Sisters and Special Olympics. He enjoyed golf, horse racing and following the Wildcats. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 8, at St. Leo Catholic Church by the Rev. Danny Schwendeman, followed by his Celebration of Life Service from 12 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Road, Frankfort. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Special Olympics or the Bluegrass Care Navigators. (Paid obituary)
