Gary D. Coffey, 62, of Versailles, husband of Dena McClain Coffey, died Thursday, April 13, 2017. Born Oct. 24, 1954, in Lincoln County, he was the son of Frances Louise Coffey and the late Donald Coffey. He was a retired HVAC technician for the Woodford County Board of Education. He was a member of Glen's Creek Baptist Church and retired assistant chief of the Versailles Fire Department. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Donald Matthew Coffey, Versailles; a grandson, Alexander Donald Coffey; and three sisters, Donna (Ralph) Canter, Versailles, Rita (Leonard) Hatter, Lawrenceburg, and Sharon Coffey (Steve) Creech, Shelbyville. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Karen Sue Coffey. Services were conducted Tuesday, April 18, at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill, by the Rev. Jody Short and the Rev. John Brandon. Burial was in Rose Crest Cemetery. Casket bearers were Dewey Eaves, Terry Eaves, Eugene McClain, Don Koontz, Ricky Summers, Darrel Rollins, Sherman Green, and Alex Cheek. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Glen's Creek Baptist Church Building Fund.
