Shotwell


Betsy Shotwell, 84, widow of Clyde W. Shotwell, died Thursday, April 27, 2017, with her son, Scotty, and his wife, Joanie, by her side. A native of Versailles, she was born July 4, 1932, the daughter of the late Walter and Effie Clark Beckley. She spent most of her working career in banking, except for three years working as a secretary at Woodford County Middle School. She was also active in The Business and Professional Women's Club, The United Way, American Heart Association, and other charities. A long-time member of Versailles First Christian Church, she enjoyed singing in the choir, and playing bridge with friends. Survivors include three children, Gayle (Steve) Lamb, Florida, Holly Forkner III, Tennessee, and Charles Scott (Joanie) Forkner, Versailles; a stepdaughter, Jane (Tim) Manchester, California; nine grandchildren, Seth Freeman, Chris (Mary Ellen) Lamb, Thomas Lamb, Nathan Forkner, Matthew (Ashley) Forkner, Adam (Kalyn) Forkner, Alex (Annie) Forkner, Abby Forkner, and Nathan Manchester; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband of 41 years, two sisters, Dorothy (Thomas) Graves and Anna Mae Rambo Sizemore, and a stepdaughter, Glenna Shotwell, are deceased. Services were conducted Saturday, April 29, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Versailles Cemetery.
