Art in The Park: Artist Spotlight

Joseph Hawkins grew up in Woodford County and graduated from Woodford County High School in 2005. He works full time for Alltech but has been woodworking on the side for the last four years as a hobby.

Joseph's wife encouraged him to try woodworking when she fell in love with a project on Pinterest that she just had to have. He borrowed some tools to make it, and while it wasn't a great piece of craftsmanship, it started him down the rabbit hole of actual woodworking. Joseph has become a talented self-taught woodworker and wood turner in his spare time. He and his wife recently had their first child, which stretches that spare time pretty thin. But Joseph makes the time to work on a hobby he has grown to love. In addition to beautiful bowls and vases, Joseph has a unique line of bourbon bow ties, where the bow is cut from the lid of a bourbon barrel.

Black Barn Woodworks will be at Art in The Park this weekend during the block party on May 26 from 6 to 9 p.m., and all day May 27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Art in The Park will be located on the lawn of The Woodford Inn.
