WCMS track teams sending 40 athletes to state

The Woodford County Middle School girls’ and boy’s track teams are having one of the best seasons in school history. To date, the girls’ team, which is ranked No. 2 in the state by kymilesplit.com, has won nine meets, while the boys’ have won five meets. The season was highlighted when both teams won the Bluegrass Conference Championships, which were held on May 9 at Lexington Christian Academy. This Saturday, May 3, Woodford will send 40 athletes – 23 girls and 17 boys – to compete in the Middle School State Championship meet in Louisville. The athletes earned the right to go to state by achieving certain times, distances or heights in their specific events. Here is a list of the athletes who will be participating in the state championships, and the events they will be competing in. Girls’ Team • KaMari Black: 100-meter dash, 4x100-meter relay, long jump and triple jump. • Abbey Bleuel: 800-meter run, 4x400-meter relay and 4x800-meter relay. • Breyanna Broaden: Long jump. • Legend Burgess: Discus and shot put. • Devan Champion: 400-meter dash, 4x400-meter relay, discus and shot put. • Katherine Crain: 4x800-meter relay. • Taylor Dotson: Pole vault. • Jillian Elmore: Pole vault. • Callie Gormley: 100-meter hurdles, 300-meter hurdles, 4x400-meter relay and TurboJav. • Evie Hamilton: 4x800-meter relay. • Adriana Jackson: 4x100-meter relay, 4x200-meter relay and 4x400-meter relay. • Piper McCoun: High jump. • Avery McFarland: Pole vault. • Lilly Mullins: 100-meter hurdles. • Jaden Oldham: Discus. • Amariah Reed: High jump and triple jump. • Morgan Reynolds: 3,200-meter run. • Parker Robinson: 800-meter run. • Ana Ruvalcaba: 4x100-meter relay and 4x200-meter relay. • Asia Shands: 4x100-meter relay and 4x200-meter relay. • Samantha Stephens: 200-meter dash and 4x200-meter relay. • Audri Tupts: High jump. • Maggie Twehues: 4x800-meter dash. Boys’ Team • Brian Albor: 100-meter hurdles. • Blake Asher: Shot put. • Korrigan Blankenship: 1,600-meter run and 4x800-meter relay. • Cameron Collier: 4x400-meter and high jump. • Cody Dunn: 200-meter run, 4x100-meter relay and 4x200-meter relay. • Gabreal Foley: 4x100-meter relay and 4x200-meter relay. • Andrew Garcia: 4x200-meter relay. • Grant Garrison: Discus and TurboJav. • Jackson Gordon: 4x200-meter relay. • Trevor Greene: Pole vault, 4x400-meter relay and 4x800-meter relay. • Ethan Hendrix: 300-meter hurdles and 4x800-meter relay. • DeBrince Johnson: 4x100-meter relay. • Thomas Martin: 4x400-meter relay and high jump. • Jackson Moffett: 3,200-meter run. • Hunter Penn: 400-meter dash, 4x400-meter relay, 4x800-meter relay, long jump and TurboJav. • Malik Richardson: 100-meter dash, 4x100-meter relay and 4x200-meter relay. • Dylan Taylor: 800-meter run and 4x800-meter relay.
