Locally Grown Youth Ministry

Locally Grown, a community organization for sixth- through 12th-graders from Midway and surrounding areas, held its summer kickoff and parent meeting last Wednesday at the Midway Presbyterian Church. This organization began in August of 2015 when several Midway churches came together to discuss how they might work together to help the youths in the area to deal with the issues they may face in school, with their family, helping each other, and dealing with the everyday problems. In a little over nine months, a common vision was established and goals were set so that Midway churches could work together to create opportunities that supplement existing youth ministries, support churches without youth programming, and engage youths who do not attend church. As part of its one-year anniversary the organization will hold the Locally Grown Youth Golf Scramble June 26 at Moss Hill Golf Course, 3495 McCowans Ferry Road, Versailles. Proceeds from this event will be used to help support their mission to serve the youths of the community. For more information about the golf scramble and how to donate to this ministry, visit www.lgmidway.com/golf.
