Charlie Pierce, 77, of Versailles, husband of Lizzie Guy Pierce, died Monday, June 12, 2017. Born Nov. 5, 1939, in Montgomery, Ala., he was the son of the late Jessie and Henrietta Calloway Pierce. He was a former employee of Dawhares. In addition to his wife of 59 years, he is survived by three daughters, Myra Pierce (Cammie), Ellicott City, Md., Wendy (Anthony) Tolliver, Lexington, and Nancy (Marshall) Saffo, Montgomery, Ala.; four sons, Preston Wright and Glenn (Loretta) Pierce, both of Montgomery, Ala., Charles Stokes, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Everett Charles Pierce, Versailles; two brothers, Adam (Angela) Pierce and Melvin Pierce, both of Montgomery, Ala.; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Three sisters and four brothers are deceased. Services were conducted Friday, June 16, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home by the Rev. Dr. Floyd Greene. Charlie's sons and grandsons served as casket bearers. Committal and burial followed in Steele Cemetery.
