Barbara Derringer Tennill, 84, of Versailles, formerly of Shelbyville, widow of Donald Stewart Tennill, died Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at her residence. Born in Mackville in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Edward Ray and Myrtle Frances Harmon Derringer. She was a member of the Highland Baptist Church. A former employee of Kroger, she was also a former teacher's aide at the First Baptist Preschool in Shelbyville. With her late husband, she was active in B & D Crafts, creating and marketing woodworks and other handcrafted items. Survivors include a son, Donald Ray Tennill (Paula), Lawrenceburg; two daughters, Nancy Cooley (Wayne), Frankfort, and Sandra J. Turner (Donnie), Versailles; a brother, Charles Derringer (Mary Lou), Shelbyville; two sisters, Marian Rogers (Lee), Borden, Ind., and Jerry Frances Kistner, Shelbyville; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Services were conducted Thursday, June 22, at the Highland Baptist Church of Shelbyville by the Rev. Bill George. Interment was in the Grove Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville. Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Shelbyville was in charge of arrangements. Contributions may be made to the Highland Baptist Church or to Bluegrass Care Navigators.
