Former WCMS teacher pleads not guilty to rape

A former Woodford County Middle School social studies teacher pleaded not guilty to rape and other charges during her arraignment in Woodford Circuit Court on July 5. Lindsey B. Jarvis, 27, of Lexington pleaded not guilty to third-degree rape, third-degree sodomy and third-degree unlawful transaction with a minor (misdemeanor). Jarvis allegedly engaged in sexual intercourse and deviant sexual intercourse with a male juvenile (younger than 16 years old) in May and June 2016, according to an indictment returned by a Woodford County grand jury. Jarvis, a teacher at WCMS through the 2015-16 school year, has also been charged with two counts of third-degree rape in Fayette County, where she worked at Veterans Park Elementary last school year. She was scheduled to reappear in Woodford Circuit Court for a status hearing on Sept. 6.
