Carl Edgar Lindberg, 91, of Versailles, husband of Jean Hazel Burtt Lindberg, died Monday, June 26, 2017, at the Thomson Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore. Born Aug. 26, 1925, in South Norwalk, Conn., he was the only son of the late Carl Gustav and Cecil Lovie Foster Lindberg. He was a photo system engineer for IBM for 34 years. He was a Navy veteran who was at Normandy, Omaha Beach, Easy Red and earned two Battle Stars. He also was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Discharge Button and the Honorable Service Lapel Button WWII. In addition to his wife of 65 years, he is survived by a son, Foster (Cady) Lindberg, Brunswick, Ga.; two grandchildren, Jamie Lindberg, Brunswick, Ga., and Samuel (Katelyn), Colorado Springs, Colo.; and a great-grandson, Bradley Drake Lindberg, Brunswick, Ga. Two sisters, Cecil Mills and Katherine Laehy, are deceased. A graveside service with military honors was conducted on Friday, June 30, at the Camp Nelson National Cemetery. A memorial service followed on Saturday. July 1, at Versailles Presbyterian Church. Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
