Anne Martens, 78, of Versailles, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017, surrounded by her family. Visitation will be from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, July 21, at Bauer Funeral Home, Effingham, Ill., followed by a noon Mass at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Effingham. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass or St. Anthony of Padua Church. Annie was born on Oct. 5, 1938, to Joseph and Elsie (Overbeck) Nacke in Effingham, Ill. Annie was a graduate of St. Anthony High School. As a young lady, she was the church organist of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church before getting married and moving away. She spent much of her life in the workforce living in Decatur, Ill., Syracuse, N.Y., Louisville, and Atlanta, Ga., before moving back to Effingham in 1998. She enjoyed working at the K-Bowl and considered all bowlers her friends. She recently moved to Versailles to be near her children and grandchildren. A special thank you must go out to Hospice and her caregivers at Homeplace of Midway. She is survived by her children, Doug (Lisa) Martens of Bowling Green, Sue (David) Owen of Versailles, and David Martens of Atlanta, Ga.; four grandchildren, Kyle and Leah Martens and Nicholas and Sydney Owen; a sister, Joyce (Ron) Kabbes of Effingham and a sister-in-law, Jo Nacke of Laingsburg, Mich.; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Tom Nacke. (Paid obituary)
