James B. Wheeler, 76, of Versailles, husband of Mary Wheeler, died on Wednesday, Aug. 2,2017. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he attended Saint Augustine High School, was a member of Civil Air Patrol, and joined the U.S. Air Force after graduating high school. He then worked for IBM, retiring in 1989. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mary Ellen Wheeler, Lexington, and Brenda Williams (Dan), Wisconsin; two sons, Brian James, Georgia, and Matthew Lawrence, Georgetown; four grandchildren, Raymond James Boyd, Pennsylvania, Austin James Wheeler, Kentucky, Dillon Wheeler, Kentucky, and Quincy Williams, Wisconsin; and three great-grandchildren, Kaleb Boyd, Riley Boyd and Addison Boyd, all of Kentucky. A brother, Larry Wheeler, and a sister, Therese Alonso, are deceased. A funeral Mass was conducted Monday, Aug. 7, at St. Leo Catholic Church, Versailles. Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill, Versailles, was in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Leo Church, Versailles, or to the Aviation Museum of Kentucky, Lexington.
