Mary Carmel Lile, 66, of Versailles, died Friday, August 11, 2017. She was the wife of Gary W. Lile and the mother of three children. A lifelong reader, Carmel turned her love of words into a writing career. Carmel published poetry in children's journals, and, most recently, published the historical fiction novel, A Winter's Flood, which takes place in Louisville, Ky., during the great flood of 1937. Carmel's other passion, helping those in need, prompted her work with Mittens for Akkol, an organization that provides knitted mittens, socks, sweaters, hats and scarves to orphans in Kazakhstan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made online at mittensforakkol.com or by check to Mittens for Akkol, 3430 St Rt 756, Felicity, OH 45120. Carmel is survived by her husband, three children, Josh Lile (Kim) of Kentucky, Abbey Lile-Taylor (Andrew) of California, and Christen Schmeling (Paul) of Virginia, as well as five grandchildren Reese, Wini, Henry, Rudy and Isaac. "True friends are always together in spirit." -Anne Shirley, Anne of Green Gables. No services are planned. Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill, is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be expressed at www.clarklegacycenter.com. (Paid obituary)
