Ada B. Doan Johnson, 93, widow of Glenn Johnson, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2017, at Homestead Nursing Home in Lexington. Born March 23, 1924, in McKay, Ore., she was the daughter of the late Pleas L. and Mattie Mink Doan. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa sorority at the University of Kentucky, where she graduated with her BA and MA specializing in counseling. In 1997, she retired from the Fayette County Board of Education after 31-½ years of employment as a teacher and counselor. She was also a member of Versailles Church of Christ. Survivors include a son, Glenn Rondall (Carol) Johnson, Niceville, Fla.; a sister, Jewell Begley, New Richmond, Ohio; two brothers, Ivan Doane, Paducah, and Charles Doan, Tampa, Fla.; two grandchildren, Jeff Johnson, Southbury, Conn., and Rhonda Collette Johnson, Destin, Fla.; and a great-grandson, Jack Johnson. A sister, Edith Estes, and a brother, Chester Doan, are deceased. Services were conducted on Friday, Sept. 8, at Versailles Church of Christ. Interment was at the Lexington Cemetery.
