NORTH MAIN STREET was blocked off Saturday for the first Versailles Fall Festival, which was followed by a block party on Green Street that evening. Organizer Maria Bohanan estimated that 2,500 took part in the two events at some point in the day - and that the festival will return next year. (Photo by John McGary)

FEAR THE BEER contestant Brad Hudson made his way up Park Street Saturday in the final leg of American Legion Post 67's first "Fear the Beer" race, which was part of the Versailles Fall Festival. Contestants began by drinking a beer, running (or walking) a quarter-mile, drinking another beer, etc. Post Commander Lonnie Estes said the race was capped at 40 participants, but another 70 wanted to take part.
