Lay


Coy Junior Lay, 81, husband of Barbara Lay, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017, at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington. Born June 27, 1936, in Casey County, he was the son of the late Logan and Ida Hicks Lay. He was retired from maintenance at Lane's End Farm, where he worked for 32 years. In addition to his wife of 50 years, he is survived by four children, Wayne (Tabitha) Leigh, Lisa (Joe) Girouard, Betty Sue (James) McClain, and Steven (Bobbie) Lay, all of Versailles; a sister, Shirley Hamilton, Harrodsburg; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Eight siblings and a son, Mike Lay, are deceased. Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home by Derrick Sumerel. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 11 a.m. Memorial donations are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 5010 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
