Constance "Aunt Connie" Collins Shepherd, 70, widow of Marvin Shepherd, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017, at Bluegrass Community Hospital. Born Dec. 9, 1946, in Versailles, she was the daughter of the late Robert Earl and Kitty Francis Rice Collins. She was a graduate of Woodford County High School. Survivors include a son, A'ton Shepherd; a daughter, Jacquetta Shepherd; three sisters, Flora Atwood Collins Stepp, Loretta Collins Reed, and DeAnna Collins Adkins, all of Versailles; a brother, Douglas Smith, Louisville; two grandchildren, Jaylen Shepherd and Mikayla Campbell; and several nieces and nephews. A sister, Marcella Marie Collins Higgins, and a brother, Robert Earl Collins Jr., are deceased. Services were conducted Monday, Oct. 2, at First Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Floyd Greene. Burial was at Steele Cemetery. Casket bearers were Jason Higgins, Robert Reed, Austin Reed, Omar Christian, George Quisenberry, Brandon Garner, Demarcus Collins, and Lee Adkins. Honorary bearers were her great-nephews.
