Betty Bohannon Meyer, 94, widow of Robert W. Meyer, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017. Born in Versailles, she was the daughter of Florence Cotton Edwards and Frank Bohannon Jr. She was a graduate of Fairfax Hall, Waynesboro, Va., and the University of Kentucky with a BA in journalism. At UK, she was a member of Chi Omega sorority and business manager of the Kentucky Kernel. She was a member of the Junior League of Lexington, and served as chairman of the Jr. League Horse Show (1962) and also as treasurer. She was a longtime member of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church and served on the Vestry. She was a financial assistant in the church office for many years. She also served with Planned Parenthood, Baby Health Service, and the Lexington Philharmonic Society. She was president and treasurer of "The Little Garden Club of Woodford County." For many years, she was treasurer of the VIP Investment Club. She was also a member of the National Society of Colonial Dames. She loved bridge and was a member of several bridge clubs. She was a world traveler, making many trips abroad with her husband, Bob, and with her sister-in-law, Elise Meyer. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Groves and Sarah Mutziger (Dr. John), Meridian, Miss.; a son, Philip Meyer (Jan); three grandchildren, Col. John Marshall Groves (Stephanie), Col. Matthew Groves (Jennifer), and Elise Sheehan (Dr. Joseph) of Bozeman, Mont.; seven great-grandchildren, Brennan Groves, Gray Robert Groves, Lilly Kate Groves, Laurel Groves, Grace Sheehan, James Sheehan, and Bo Sheehan; and two step-grandchildren, John Mutziger (Bay) and Westley Mutziger (Claire). A brother, Frank Bohannon III, is deceased. Visitation will be held today, Thursday, Nov. 2, from 5:30 to 7:30 at the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, Lexington. The funeral and a reception will be held on Friday at 1, also at Good Shepherd, followed by burial at Pisgah Cemetery in Woodford County.
