James M. "Jimmy" Spurgeon, 68, husband of Delia Corman Spurgeon, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, at Baptist Healthcare in Lexington. Born Feb. 20, 1949, he was the son of the late James L. and Leona Rose Spurgeon. He was a retired production supervisor for OSRAM-Sylvania with over 30 years of service. He was an avid fisherman, a member of the Versailles United Methodist Church, and a school bus driver. In addition to his wife of 48 years , he is survived by a daughter, Leslie (Mark) Gaus, Clayton, N.C.; a son, Jason M. (Larissa) Spurgeon, Lexington; a sister, Wanda Spurgeon Parrott, Versailles; eight grandchildren, Emma Gaus, Lydia Gaus, Jonah Gaus, Joshua (Lesley) Stephens, Thomas (Ashley) Stephens, Lacey Stephens, Corey (Breanna) Stephens; six great-grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Jo Ann Corman; a sister-in-law, Melissa Corman; a niece, Karen Boden; a nephew, Marlon Hutchen;, and a great-nephew, Jamie Glass. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. today, Thursday, Nov. 2, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home by the Rev. Tim Thompson. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Versailles United Methodist Church Building Fund.
