Vickers


Robert J. Vickers Sr., 74, husband of Susie Mae Vickers, died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017, at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center. Born June 26, 1943, in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Bertie Pearson and Preston Vickers. He was retired from Texas Instruments. He loved woodworking and building birdhouses. He was an avid deer hunter and member of New Hope Baptist Church. In addition to his wife of 51 years, he is survived by five children, Lizsa Vickers Graul, Versailles, Connie (Brian) Cramer, Lawrenceburg, Mary (Matthew) Sims, Versailles, Robert Vickers Jr., Versailles, and Dale (Melanie) Vickers, Versailles; two sisters, Dora (Rex) Cox, Jackson County, and Della Wilson, Richmond; a brother, Delmer Vickers, Connersville, Ind.; nine grandchildren, Ashli Graul, Leslie Graul, James Clinton Tinsley, Shelby Sims, Zachery Childers, Zabez Saylor, Dylan Saylor, Given Robbins, and Chandler Grider; and five great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Denver Vickers and David Vickers, are deceased. Services were conducted on Monday, Nov. 6, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home by Dr. J. Wesley Noss. Burial was in Rose Crest Cemetery. Casket bearers were Matthew Sims, Patrick Xavier, Robert Vickers Jr., James Clinton Tinsley, and Terry Cosby Jr. Honorary bearers were Rex Cox, Brian Cramer, and Raymond Foley.
