Cost share sign-ups ,going on now
Recently, we talked a bit about the investment that has been made in Woodford County agriculture by the Kentucky Agricultural Development Fund. Since 2001, the Woodford County Agricultural Development Council has provided over $4.4 million in direct assistance to Woodford County farmers to improve their farming operations. These funds are also required to have a 1:1 match by the producer. Due to the availability of these funds more than $9 million has been invested in Woodford County farms. An additional $163,223 has also directly benefited landowners in the county through assistance in purchasing shared-use equipment, fallen animal removal, and other programs.
Now is the time period for producers to signup for this program. The County Agricultural Investment Program (CAIP) has many projects that it can cover from building bee hives to constructing fence and equipping a tractor with GPS.
There will be an informational meeting on the 2017 cost share program on Monday, Nov. 20 , at the Woodford County Extension Office. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will cover everything from eligible projects to the application process itself. Discussion will also include educational certifications that also must be attained before any project can be funded. Some changes are occurring this year to this requirement.
Applications are currently available for pickup at the Woodford County Extension Office. The application window will close at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1.
Eligible receipts for completed projects must be dated May 1, 2017, or later. A picture of the completed project must accompany receipts in order to receive reimbursement.
Proposed projects that are approved will have 9 months from date of approval to be completed.
