Anna Elizabeth Parrish Franklin “Kuz”, 72, wife of 52 years to Stephen L. Franklin, Sr., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, at Baptist Health Care in Lexington, Kentucky.
Anna was born on Nov. 16, 1945, in Versailles, the daughter of the late Annabelle Lewis Washington and Joseph G. Parrish. Anna was a 1964 graduate of Versailles High School. She was a loving wife and mother who worked as a teacher for Headstart and was the shop manager for her sister’s hair salon, Hazel’s Beauty Shop. Anna was a devoted member of First Baptist Church, Versailles. She enjoyed going to Sunday School and teaching the Young Adult Mixed Class and the Adult Women’s Class. She was also a member of the choir and Treasurer for Steele Cemetery. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Alma Parrish.
Anna is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Stephen L. Franklin Sr., of Versailles, three sons, Stephen L. Franklin, Jr. (Redona); Sean L. Franklin (LaShanda); Shane L. Franklin (Abby), all of Lexington; two sisters, Betty P. Mosley (Rev. H.L. Mosley), of Versailles; Hazel P. Jones (Scott Jones, III), of Louisville; an uncle, Joseph Lewis, of Cincinnati; two special cousins, ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Going Home Celebration will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30, at First Baptist Church, Rev. Dr. Floyd Greene officiating. Interment will follow at Steele Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Thursday from 12:00 noon until the service at First Baptist Church.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to the Steele Cemetery Fund.
