Sawyer Ford competes in All-Star Classic

Sawyer Ford had a successful day kicking in the 7th-grade All-Star Classic on Sunday, Nov. 26 at Kentucky State Alumni Stadium. Ford had a unique opportunity to kick for both teams due to the East team's kicker not showing up for the game. In the third quarter, Ford scored the only points of the game when he drilled a 27-yard field goal to give the West a 3-0 lead and that would be the only score of the game for either side. Ford was awarded the Offensive MVP of the game for the West.
On Nov. 18, Sawyer traveled with the Nicholasville Bears to compete in The Battle in Rocky Top which was held in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Ford's 12 and under team played in four games and finished with a record of 1-3 for the weekend.
“I intend on attending a pro kicker camp this December and hopeful to work out with former NFL punter Jordan Gay,”said Ford. “Strength and conditioning is right around the corner for next season so I will do my best to be ready for next year. I am hopeful that my teammates and I can make it through the all-star selection together in 2018.”
