Request to operate bed and breakfast on Leestown Road

The Board of Adjustment is scheduled to hear a request for a conditional-use permit to operate a bed and breakfast/inn on West Leestown Road during its meeting on Monday, Jan. 8 at 6:30 p.m. in the second-floor courtroom of the Woodford County Courthouse.

James J. O’Brien wants the permit so he can operate a four-room B&B at Three Creeks Training Center, located on the Franklin-Woodford County line at 4598 West Leestown Road.

During a zone change hearing last October, O’Brien told the Planning Commission that four bedrooms, three bathrooms and a kitchen are the living accommodations planned in a 10-stall horse barn on 38 acres in Woodford County.

The living accommodations will allow riders to stay in a barn with their horses, which they like to do when training for competition, O’Brien said.

Variances requested

The Board of Adjustment is also scheduled to hear two requests for variances.

John and Melinda Eberth are seeking a seven-foot rear-yard variance for a covered porch at 824 Flint Ridge Road, R-1B (single-family residential) district.

Antony C. Bays wants a 10-foot side-yard variance and 25-foot rear-yard variance in order to build a single-family residence at 5799 Midway Road, A-1 (agricultural) district.
