Larry Gene Blackford Jr., 30, of Versailles, died Dec. 25, 2017, unexpectedly from a sudden attack. He was known by many friends and others as “Little Larry.”
Born on Aug. 26, 1987, in Lexington, he was the son of Rev. Larry and Nancy Blackford. He also had a sister, Min. Kimberly Blackford of Louisville.
He was a free spirit, adventurous, and fun-loving. He was an avid drummer and lover of music. He loved people and worked hard to build bridges and serve others. He was a great videographer, a wonderful cook, he loved kids, and he loved his Louisville Cardinals, and more than anything, he loved his family. Larry had a Bachelor’s Degree in Media Broadcasting from Eastern Kentucky University and a Master’s Degree in Physical Education from Morehead State University. He was employed by Fayette County Public Schools in Media Technology.
Throughout his life, Larry played drums at Consolidated Baptist Church, Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Corinthian Baptist Church in Winchester, St. Paul AME Church in Versailles, Quest Community Church and Total Grace Baptist Church. He also played with many bands and musicians throughout the Kentucky area. He was the sole proprietor of LB Production Company where he specialized in recording weddings, producing commercials, and building a social media presence. Services were held Dec. 30, at the Consolidated Baptist Church, Lexington. Arrangements under the direction of the Keith P. Clark and Son Funeral Home, Winchester.
