Howard Thomas Carter, 78, husband of Juanita Carter, died on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, at his home.

Born on July 11, 1939, in Versailles, Ky., he was the son of the late George Wesley and Bertha Lue Clark Carter. He was a 1956 graduate of Versailles High School and served as a CPL in the United States Army. He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy and a classic car enthusiast.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Tommie Carter, Bardstown; two stepsons, Eugene McDaniel, Mt. Sterling; Nealy McDaniel, Versailles; a stepdaughter, Norita McDaniel, Versailles; two brothers, Donald E. (Ruth) Carter, Jackie W. (Addie) Carter, both of Lawrenceburg; three grandchildren, Josh Logan, Matthew Logan, Jeremiah Duke, five step grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and three step great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, George Marion Carter; a sister, Virginia Doris Carter; and a brother, Ernest Reece Carter.

Services were held on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Eugene McDaniel, Nealy McDaniel, Jimmy Spicer, Matthew Logan, Joshua Logan, Jeremiah Duke, Wayne Price, and, Warren Carter. Honorary pallbearers were his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, Steven Word, and all his car buddies. Burial followed at Rose Crest Cemetery.
