WCMS wrestling places seventh at Bearcat Brawl

The WCMS wrestling team travelled to the 2018 middle school Bearcat Brawl at Walton-Verona Middle School on Saturday, Dec. 6. The Tigers finished seventh out of 19 teams at the tournament. Grant Garrison (third), Conner Dutton (second) and Jeremiah Shulze (second) all placed in the event.

“Overall, I thought we did ok,” said WCMS Coach Jarvis Livingston. “Our beginner kids saw some techniques that they’ve never seen before. Our more experienced kids were given the challenge of wrestling outside of their comfort zones. Furthermore, I was pleased to have two kids reach the finals. Obviously, I would have liked to have had more wrestlers in the finals. We still have some more work to do before our regional tournament. However, the Walton-Verona tournament showcases several teams from our region. Out of five Region 4 teams, there was only one team that finished ahead of us. I think that gives me a good idea of where we stand against the regional competition.
