Jacketfish place third in tri meet

The Jacketfish competed in a tri meet with Lexington Catholic and Boyle County on Wednesday, Jan. 10 at Falling Springs. Lexington Catholic finished first in overall as a team with 911.5 points. Boyle County was second with 885.5 points and Woodford County was third with 772.

The first event was the women's 200-yard medley relay. Woodford's Laura Crutchfield, Madeline Gatewood, Katie Gatewood and Emma Oberlander finished third (2:04.21). Paden Nicholson, Isabel Taylor, Caroline Crain and Natalie Eller finished fifth (2:21:04) for Woodford.

In the men's 200-yard medley relay, Clay Lewis, Cole Janzow, Xavier Moore and Luke Gardner placed third for the Jackets (1:49.77). Isaac Tonges, William Fisher, Nate Janzow and Riley Garnder combined for fourth place (1:55.56).

Madeline Gatewood of WCHS placed second in the women's 200-yard freestyle (2:05.95) and Kyleigh Davis was sixth (2:28.05). In the men's 200-yard freestlye, Nate Janzow was fourth (2:10.57), Isaac Tonges was fifth (2:10.72) and William Fisher was sixth (2:15.32).

WCHS's Laura Crutchfield was second in the women's 200-yard individual medley (2:27.23) and Xavier Moore was second in the men's medley (2:11.64).

Emma Oberlander (29.89) placed seventh in the women's 50-yard freestyle and Catherine Cadwallader (31.21) finished in 11th place. Luke Gardner (23.74) finished first in the men's 50-yard freestyle and Clay Lewis (24.48) was fifth.

In the women's 100-yard fly, Katie Gatewood (1:01.45) finished second and Taylor finished fifth (1:16.95). Cole Janzow (55.92) finished second in the men's 100 yard fly

Olivia Damm (1:06.13) finished fourth in the women's 100-yard freestyle. Luke Gardner (51.82) finished second in the men's 100-yard freestyle.

Madeline Gatewood (5:51.40) won the women's 500-yard freestyle event by nearly one minute.

In the women's 200-yard freestyle relay, Emma Oberlander, Natalie Eller, Erin Oberlander and Olivia Damm combined for third place (2:04.03). Woodford also took fifth and sixth place in the event.

In the men's 200-yard freestyle relay, Tonges, Riley Gardner, Nate Janzow and Preston Upthegrove combined to place fourth (1:45.33).

In the women's 100-yard backstroke, Crutchfield (1:03.42) placed second in the event. In the men's 100-yard backstroke, Moore (1:00.10) placed fourth and Lewis (1:00.18) was fifth.

Katie Gatewood (1:18.06) finished second in the women's 100-yard breaststroke and Caroline Crain was fifth (1:25.30). Cole Janzow (1:05.55) was second in the men's 100-yard breaststroke.

In the women's 400-yard freestyle relay, Katie Gatewood, Cruthfield, Erin Oberlander and Madeline Gatewood combined to finish third (4:09.89). Catherine Cadwallader, Emma Goh, Victoria Hale and Olivia Damm placed fifth (4:57.48).

In the men's 400-yard freestle relay, Luke Gardner, Lewis, Moore and Cole Janzow combined to take third place (3:34.82). Upthegrove, Zack Ball, Brian Claridge and James Bonci finished fifth (4:45.48).

In the dive meet, Caitlin Cottingham finished seventh in the women’s one meter dive. Wade Young finished third in the men’s one meter dive with a new personal best (230.80). William Slover finished fifth.
