Vera Dean Scott Dawson, 81, wife of William Dawson, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018.

Born Sept. 6, 1936, in Boone County, she was the daughter of the late Lillard Sutton and Zora Cason Scott. She was a graduate of Burlington High School and the University of Kentucky, was a member of Versailles Baptist Church where she was the pianist for many years and worked in the children’s ministry. In addition to being active in church, she volunteered her time as a 4-H leader and with the Woodford County Food Pantry.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Donna (Terry) Whitehouse, Scott (Rhonda) Dawson, and Debra (Kevin) Harris; seven grandchildren, Adam (Shae) Whitehouse, Andrew (Jami) Dale, Rachel (Pat) Creager, Matthew (Kandice) Whitehouse, Rebekah Dale, Mark Dawson, and Benjamin Dawson; and 5 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 3, at Versailles Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Michael Cabell and Gary Griesser. A gathering of family and friends will follow the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Versailles Baptist Church, 125 E. Green St., Versailles, Ky. 40383 or a charity of your choice.
