Jacketfish celebrate senior night with a win


The Woodford County High School swim and dive team won their meet with Scott County on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at Falling Springs. The Jacketfish have been impressive all season winning all but one of their meets. Both teams celebrated senior night after the meet in a small ceremony that was held poolside.

In the women's dive competition, WCHS senior, Chelsea Call finished in first (219.70) and teammate Caitlin Cottingham was second (164.70).

In the men's dive competition, WCHS swept the top three positions. William Slover placed first (223.00), Wade Young was second (211.65) and Drew Richie was third (193.20). Caleb Evans rounded out the top-five for Woodford (186.30).

In the women's 200-yard medley relay, Laura Crutchfield, Madeline Gatewood, Katie Gatewood and Olivia Damm placed second (2:03.92).

In the men's 200-yard medley relay, Clay Lewis, Cole Janzow, Xavier Moore and Luke Gardner combined for a second-place finish (1:49.03).

Madeline Gatewood won the women's 200-yard freestyle (2:05.36) and Kyleigh Davis finished fifth (2:28.05). Preston Upthegrove finished fourth in the men's 200-yard freestyle (2:18.25).

Katie Gatewood finished first in the women's 200-yard individual medley (2:24.97) and Caroline Crain finished fourth (2:52.16). Lewis finished second in the men's 200-yard individual medley (2:09.27).

Emma Oberlander finished second in the women's 50-yard freestyle (30.02). Olivia Damm was third (30.20) and Catherine Cadwallader was fourth (31.20).

In the men's 50-yard freestyle, Luke Gardner placed second (23.46), Xavier Moore was fourth (24.84) and Riley Gardner was fifth (25.37).

In the women's 100-yard fly, Laura Crutchfield placed third (1:07.98) and Isabel Taylor was fourth (1:15.76). Cole Janzow placed third in the men's 100-yard fly (56.92).

In the women's 100-yard freestyle, Damm placed third (1:08.74), Emma Oberlander was fourth (1:08.79) and Erin Oberlander was fifth (1:09.60). Luke Gardner finished second in the men's 100-yard freestyle (52.35).

Madeline Gatewood won the women's 500-yard freestyle (5:49.21) and Davis was fourth (6:33.59).

Nate Janzow placed second in the men's 500-yard freestlye (5:51.48), William Fisher was third (6:12.38) and Upthegrove was fourth (6:13.29).

In the women's 200-yard freestyle relay, Natalie Eller, Erin Oberlander, Emma Oberlander and Isabel Taylor combined for second place (2:06.37). Paden Nicholson, Emma Goh, Anna Nuckols and Caroline Crain were the third place team (2:16.27). Caroline Miller, Abbey Bleuel, Anna Holt and Victoria Hale were the fourth place team (2:24.63).

In the men's 200-yard freestyle, Nate Janzow, Riley Garnder, Upthegrove and Isaac Tonges finished second (1:47.70). Clay Thomas, Brian Claridge, Zack Ball and James Bonci combined for fourth place (2:12.46).

Crutchfield placed second in the women's 100-yard backstroke (1:04.09). Taylor was fourth (1:17.80) and Nicholson was fifth (1:24.21). Lewis finished second in the men's 100-yard backstroke (59.68). Moore was third (1:01.26) and Tonges was fourth (1:01.94).

Katie Gatewood won the women's 100-yard breaststroke (1:19.31). Crain was third (1:28.13), Nuckols was fourth (1:28.50) and Cadwallader was fifth (1:31.75). Cole Janzow was second in the men's 100-yard breaststroke (1:11.43).

In the women's 400-yard freestyle relay, Damm, Crutchfield teamed with Katie and Madeline Gatewood to win the event (4:07.20). Davis, Goh, Lilli Wingrove and Hannah Warthman finished third (5:17.44).

In the men's 400-yard freestyle relay, Moore, Lewis, Luke Gardner and Cole Janzow placed first (3:36.39). Bonci, Claridge, Ball and Upthegrove finished fourth (4:45.43).
