Jordan Upton signs with Transylvania University
Woodford County High School senior Jordan Upton signed his letter of intent to join the track and field program at Transylvania University. Upton signed his letter at a ceremony in the WCHS library on Wednesday, Jan. 24. The library was packed with friends and family to support Upton for the occasion.
“Jordan put a lot of time and energy into the sport he loves,” said WCHS Athletic Director Dennis Johnson. “It's an exciting time for him and his family.”
Upton has been competing in track and field events since sixth grade and strives to be the hardest worker on the team.
"He works so hard and sacrificed plenty to be here today,” said Upton's mother, Deneilya Upton. “He has a job and he still finds time to work hard every day and he has stuck to the same routine for years.”
Upton's specialty is the triple jump and high jump but he also competes on relay teams as well.
“I've learned a lot in my time here at Woodford County,” said Upton. “I've learned how to be a better teammate and Transy is where I knew I wanted to continue my track and field career at the next level.”
“The choice to attend Transy was an easy one for me,” he added. “They gave me the best chance to better myself and it is always nice to be close to home as well.”
