Shirley Rose Pettit Bickford, 83, widow of General James Estill Bickford (ret.), died on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, at The Homeplace at Midway.

Born on May 16, 1934, in Erlanger, she was the daughter of the late Gladdus R. and Antionette Evers Pettit. She was a graduate of Beechwood High School, Ft. Mitchell; and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Eastern Kentucky University. She held many teaching jobs including teaching remedial and speed reading both in public schools and on overseas bases to help soldiers earn degrees. She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church and past president of the Woodford County Woman’s Club.

Survivors include three daughters, Amy (Dale) Fraysur, Florida; Jill (Mark) Crawford, Versailles; Cindy (Gary) McClelland, Florida; five grandchildren, Kyle Fraysur, Jessica (Marcos) Peet, Stephanie Bentley, all of Florida; Luke and Ava Crawford, Versailles.

Services were conducted on Tuesday, Feb. 13, at St. John’s Episcopal Church with Fr. Dana Lockhart officiating. Interment followed at Rose Crest Cemetery.
