Atkins


Mary E. Atkins, 87, formerly of Versailles, wife of Robert Atkins, died on Monday, Feb. 12, 2018, at the Brooke Knoll Village in Avon, Indiana.

Born on June 26, 1930, in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Allan “Beck” Beckham and Mary Bell Shouse Lafoe. She had been a store manager for Hallmark.

In addition to her husband of almost 68 years, she is survived by two daughters, Cathy (Kevin Blair) Atkins and Karen (Rick) Wagoner; a son, Joe (Linda) Atkins; six grandchildren, Abby and Issy Wagoner; Audrey, Robbie, Kevin and Danny Atkins; four great-grandchildren, Belle, Keegan and Natalie Atkins; and Derek Cornwell; three sisters, Pat (James) Ward, Della Rose and Teresa Chadwell; two brothers, Brad (Christine) Lafoe and David (Pam) Lafoe; and a sister-in-law, Marilyn LeMond. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Elizabeth Foster Lafoe; a sister, Emma Howe; and two brothers, Allen B. “Buddy” Lafoe Jr. and Donald Lafoe.

Services were held on Monday, Feb. 19, at Blackburn and Ward Funeral Home, with Rev. Chris Harper officiating. Burial followed at Rose Crest Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Baldrick’s Foundation to fight childhood cancers or Parkinson’s Foundation.
