The Woodford County Board of Education is tentatively scheduled to announce the hiring of a new schools superintendent on Friday, March 7.
Roger W. Reeves, 56, manager of the Woodford County Farm Bureau died Thursday, Feb. 28.
Woodford County High School’s future problem-solving (FPS) team who will participate in the Kentucky Governor’s Cup Finals are: Brad Elliott, Anne Charlton, Adam Horn, Thomas Wilhoit and Bennett Coffey.
Kentucky Center for School Safety Executive Director Jon Akers recently presented the Woodford County Board of Education with a report on the pros and cons of adopting a student drug testing policy.
Elizabeth Herndon and Kasi Peel of Versailles were named to the dean’s list at Morehead State University for the fall 2007 semester. Melissa Bradway, Natalie Cunningham, Shannon Nichols, and Casey Vandergrift of Woodford County were named to the dean’s list at Murray State University for the fall 2007 semester.

Williams has been named a president’s scholar at Western. She is the daughter of Peggy and Scott Williams of Woodford County.

A six-inch snowfall blanketed the area on Thursday, Feb. 25, but drivers were prepared and factories sent workers home early before roads became too treacherous.
The Kentucky Bank in the Versailles Center held ribbon cutting ceremonies Feb. 25.
Dr. Joseph Wellnitz, 50, a veterinarian who interned at the Woodford Veterinary Clinic in 1969 and worked there several years during the 1970s, was found shot to death early Friday in Columbia, Ky. His wife, Beth, 40, and her son, Dennis, 20, were also slain.
The Woodford County High School Lady Jackets won their basketball district opener against Frankfort, 64-40, and will face either Franklin County or Western Hills for the district title to-morrow night.
Woodford County High sprinting sensation Chris Jackson will compete later this month in the Nike Scholastic Indoor Track and Field meet at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, N.Y.

Deanna Gray of Versailles was named Kentucky’s Young Mother of the Year at the state competition sponsored the Kentucky Mothers Association in Louisville Saturday.
Dr. Nelson M. Hoffman Jr., president of the Pennington School in New Jersey, has been selected as president of Midway College. He will replace Lynn Draper, who has been acting president at Midway since Dr. Albert N. Cox’s resignation last July l.
Hank Graddy of Versailles has been appointed assistant commonwealth’ s attorney for the 14th Judicial District. He was sworn in Monday by Circuit Judge Robert Hall Smith.
Snow closed Woodford County schools on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, bringing to 28 the number of days lost this term.
Woodford Junior High students who will participate in the district Math Bowl are: Steven Craig, Carla Fujii, Kirt Clemens, Missie Coulter, Blair Fujii, and Rhae Dobson.
Thomas Evan Miller of Woodford County has been commissioned a second lieutenant in the U. S. Army after graduating from Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Ga.
Dean’s list students from Woodford County at Transylvania University for the fall semester were Joseph A. Moloney, Jennifer E. Bond, Bruce S. Boggs, and Patricia S. Jones.
Missy Bond of Versailles will be on tour with the Transylvania University Choir March 11-25.
