The Kentucky Arts Council presented Woodford Theatre with a Kentucky Arts Partnership (KAP) grant on Feb. 20. Woodford Theatre’s $12,772 grant was part of $1.2 million awarded to 93 nonprofit arts organizations across Kentucky in fiscal year 2018, according to a KAP press release.

“Those dollars … enable us to produce the five shows that we are able to do (each season),” Woodford Theatre managing director Tony Del Grosso said. “They also assist with our education program in allowing us to provide scholarships to students that wouldn’t otherwise be able to be a part of the program.” He described Woodford Theatre’s partnership with KAP as invaluable.

“The state arts agency is proud to partner with the Woodford Theatre to ensure the arts are made available to enrich the lives of all Kentuckians,” said Chris Cathers, Kentucky Arts Council interim executive director.

The grants were presented to arts organizations on Feb. 20, which was Arts Day in Kentucky, an annual celebration of the arts community and the vital role that the arts play in the state’s livelihood, the press release stated.

“Kentucky has excellent arts organizations in every region of the commonwealth that provide year-round arts experiences in their communities,” said Cathers. Kentucky Arts Partnership grants provide support to arts and cultural organizations, and community programs to ensure participation in the arts is available to the people of Kentucky, the news release stated.
