Boy reports attempted abduction

Versailles police say two middle-aged white males attempted to abduct an 11-year-old boy Monday in Rose Ridge subdivision. Casey Meadows-Geilear, the boy’s mother, said the incident happened a little before 3 p.m. She said her son was riding a bike on Rose Bay Road when a white panel van with two middle-aged white males inside approached him. One of the men told him they’d lost their dog and asked him to get into the van to help them find it. Meadows-Geilear, whose husband is an officer with the Versailles Police Department (VPD), said her son ignored them and rode off on his bike, taking the long way home to avoid leading them to other child relatives there. Meadows-Geilear said she wanted to make sure parents warn their children about such encounters. As of Tuesday afternoon, the two men had not been apprehended. People with information about the case should call the VPD at (859) 873-3126.
