Election 2018

In the weeks before the May 22 primary election, we will send candidates in contested races a list of questions and strongly encourage them to answer with specifics, not partisan rhetoric or attacks. As The Sun reported Feb. 22, candidates for jailer and 8th District Magistrate are likely to be disqualified due to mistakes in their filing papers. Tuesday, County Clerk Sandy Jones said that agreed orders on the cases have not been signed. After the rulings are official, we will run a revised schedule for our Q&A series. We’re encouraging Sun readers to submit their own questions by email (john@woodfordsun.com) or by mailing them to our offices at 184 South Main Street, Versailles, 40383. You can also drop them off here. The filing deadline for nonpartisan races (councils and mayors) and independents is Aug. 14. We’ll begin our Q&A series with them after the deadline.
