Join the conversation March 28

Please join your Woodford County neighbors, colleagues and friends for an On The Table mealtime conversation on Wednesday, March 28, hosted by the board of advisors of the Woodford County Community Fund, a permanent charitable endowment fund that is part of Blue Grass Community Foundation (BGCF).

On The Table is a national initiative supported by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. It was launched in Lexington by BGCF last year. More than 11,700 people from every residential zip code in Lexington participated. Conversations helped guide city planning efforts and the work of community leaders.

“At the Woodford County Community Fund, we believe now, more than ever, that your voice matters and that there is a need and desire for civic and civil discourse,” says Joe Graviss a current board member. “Please attend so your voice and concerns can be counted.” On that day, we’ll host public conversations over breakfast, lunch and dinner, all at the Life Adventure Center.

What do you love about Woodford County? What is the single most important issue or opportunity in Woodford County today? What would motivate you to work with others to create a stronger community? By meeting in small, informal groups of eight to 10 people around a table while breaking bread together, we’ll have the opportunity to discuss all these topics and more. Your comments, feedback and ideas will help inform our Community Fund’s focus, priorities and future grant-making as we look to the years ahead.

It is not too late to join the conversation in Woodford County (and other locations across the region including Lexington, Franklin and Clark Counties). Everyone is welcome at our table.

Families, youth and schools are encouraged to participate, too.

Please reserve your spot online at bgcf.org/onthetable/register. Enter Woodford County - breakfast (8 to 10 a.m.), lunch (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.) or dinner (6 to 8 p.m.) in the third field of the Name section in the organization or business name box. Space is limited, please respond promptly.

It is simple to participate and its free of charge thanks to the Community Fund and many generous sponsors like Kentucky Farm Bureau, Bill and Laura Dake, Citizens Commerce and the Joe and Debbie Graviss Charitable Fund.

BGCF is one of 10 community foundations across the U.S. participating in On The Table, a national initiative funded by Knight Foundation following a successful pilot in 2017.

On the Table conversations are designed to be friendly, flexible, creative and fun. At Blue Grass Community Foundation and the Woodford County Community Fund, we know people invest in what they help create and big ideas can spring from small conversations. When we come together as a community to listen to and learn from each other, we accelerate our ability to work together and create greater solutions. On The Table is a starting place. Your voice matters. Join us on March 28.

Susie Stivers serves on the board of advisors of the Woodford County Community Fund, which is part of Blue Grass Community Foundation, founded by Lexington citizens in 1967 to promote giving and improve the quality of life across Central and Eastern Kentucky. Since inception, the Community Foundation has awarded more than $80 million in grant funding, including more than $10 million in 2017.
