WCHS boys lacrosse wins two of three

The Woodford County High School lacrosse team defeated the Bryan Station High School Defenders,10-3, on Monday, March 19.

The Jackets controlled every aspect of the game and kept the Defenders on their heels the entire contest. The Jackets were nine of 14 on face-offs and had 42 more ground balls than the Defenders.

WCHS senior Brody McCoun scored four goals on nine shots on goal to lead the Jackets. Sophomore Nick Crowe and senior Taylor Biggs each chipped in two goals and two assists. Junior Everett Thompson led the Jackets with 11 ground balls. Senior Ben Dawson added six. Freshman goaltender Bryan Birch stopped 10 of 12 shots on goal and senior Chance Burnett stopped six of seven.

The Jackets defeated the Dixie Heights Colonels 16-5 in a home match up on March 17. Woodford scored 10 goals in the first half and controlled possession of the ball for much of the game.

McCoun scored eight goals and had an assist to lead the Jackets. WCHS sophomore Blake Owsley and senior Sam Smarr each added a pair of goals. Thompson had 11 ground balls to lead the Jackets in fielding. Senior Ben Dawson was 12 for 17 in face-offs and sophomore Aden Baldwin was four of five.

The Jackets lost 10-3 to the Kentucky Country Day Bearcats on March 14. The Jackets were led in scoring by Owsley who had a pair of goals.
