Harry Daniel “Dan” VanSickle, 81, husband of Carol Higinbotham VanSickle, of Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania, formerly of Versailles, died on April 2, 2018. Born on Oct. 27, 1936, in Friendsville, Maryland, he was the son of the late Harry and Margaret VanSickle. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict on the USS Currituck as a radio operator. In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Lee Anne, Bethel Park, Pennsylvania and Lori (Dan) Barr, Upper St. Clair; two grandsons, Daniel Barr, Upper St. Clair and Christopher (Chelsea) Barr, Bridgeville; three great-grandchildren, Kailee Barr, Declan Corba and Liam Barr; three brothers, twin brother, Cloyde VanSickle, Hopwood, Pennsylvania; Irvin VanSickle, Northlake, Illinois and the late Marshall VanSickle; and a sister, Barbara Benedek. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 6, at David J. Henney Funeral Home, South Park, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org or to the Pennsylvania Department of Military Affairs at donate.dmva.pa.gov.
