WCHS track and field shines at Mercer County meet
WCHS senior Jai Burgess won the boys’ 100-meter dash (11.60). WCHS sophomore Will Moffett placed 25th (13.10).
Burgess was terrific again in the 200-meter dash, placing second (23.47). Moffett was 17th (26.41) and sophomore Devon Wilson was 20th (27.20).
In the boys’ 400-meter dash, sophomore James Hawkins placed 12th (58.45) and junior Alex Morgan came in 28th (1:05.72).
WCHS freshman Patrick Stiltner placed 8th in the boys’ 800-meter (2:21.25) and Jarom Bradshaw finished 23rd (2:53.91).
WCHS senior Peter McGowan placed seventh in the boys’ 1600-meter run (5:20.83) and sophomore Kyle Holt finished eighth (5:26.78). Senior Jonathan Hall finished 16th (5:46.81).
In the boys 3200-meter run, WCHS junior Abran Santos placed second (11:32.02) and sophomore Clay Thomas finished fourth (11:43.23). Sophomore Jalen Newton placed fifth (11.58.76).
In the boys 300-meter hurdles, WCHS senior Landon Saum placed second (42.77).
WCHS placed fifth in the boys 4x100-meter relay (45.88) and fifth in the 4x400-meter relay (3:58.06). In the 4x800-meter relay, the Jackets placed fifth (9:40.98).
WCHS senior Jordan Upton placed fourth in the high jump (five feet, six inches), Bradshaw was eighth (four-feet, six inches) and freshman Joshua Zeefe was ninth (four feet, six inches).
Upton placed second in the boys’ triple jump (41 feet, eight and a half inches). Freshman Shaun Lavin placed fifth in the boys’ pole vault (seven feet).
Saum finished seventh in the boys discus (111-feet, five inches) and senior Collin Hudson was eighth (107 feet, three inches). Hudson was seventh in the shot put (38 feet, three inches) and WCHS senior Jack Hill was 20th (31 feet, eight-and- a- half inches).
WCHS freshman Kamari Black won the girls’ 100-meter dash (13.21). WCHS junior Breanna finished 10th (14.27) and freshman Callie Gormley was 11th (14.33). Freshman Ana Ruvalcaba finished 18th (14.76) and sophomore Bethan Goode was 20th (14.88).
Black placed second in the girls 200-meter dash (27.50) and freshman Abbey Bleuel was seventh in the girls’ 400-meter dash (1:10.17) and Ruvalcaba was 13th (1:16.26).
Bleuel finished eighth in the girls’ 800-meter run (2:47.98) and sophomore Caroline Murray was 11th (2:51.78). WCHS freshman Megan
Davis finished 17th (3:02.33) and freshman Taylor Dotson finished 19th (3:03.48).
WCHS senior Rosa Langdoc placed fifth in the girls’ 3200-meter run (17:16.10). Gormley placed third in the girls 100-meter hurdles (18:19). WCHS junior Esther Bradshaw placed second in the girls 300-meter hurdles (51.37) and Gormley was third (52.35).
The WCHS girls team placed third in the 4x100-meter relay (53.34) and second in the 4x200-meter relay (1:54.00). In the 4x800-meter relay, WCHS placed fourth (11:31.33).
Gormley placed placed fifth in the girls’ high jump (four feet, six inches).
WCHS junior Gabi Minogue finished 17th in the girls’ long jump (nine-feet, seven and a half inches). Black placed second in the girls’ triple jump (33 feet, three inches) and WCHS sophomore Raven Upton was ninth (27 feet, 10 inches).
WCHS sophomore Allison Ferguson won the girls’ pole vault (11 feet) and sophomore Trinity Sherrod was fifth (five-feet). WCHS freshman Legend Sherrod placed fourth in the girls’ discus (87 feet, one inch) and fellow freshman Eyislea Lea-Hendon finished 18th (58 feet, nine inches).
Lea-Hendon placed second in the girls’ shot put (32 feet, four inches) and Legend Burgess was fifth (29 feet, four inches).
