Weldon


Robert Leslie Weldon Jr., 91, widower of Carol Jean Fischer Weldon, died Sunday, April 1, 2018, following a short illness in hospice at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington. Born on June 9, 1926, in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of Robert Leslie Weldon Sr. and Marjorie Smith Weldon. He served his country under the Ninth Armored Division during World War II. He was a Master Mason of The Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of the State of New York, Reliance Lodge No. 776, F.&A.M. He was a University of Kentucky graduate and a great supporter of the university. He owned Lexington Automotive Parts (NAPA) stores in Lexington and was a stockbroker at First Security. He was an active member of Pisgah Presbyterian Church, Versailles, serving as Elder and Trustee as well as starting the Pisgah Scholarship Fund. He is survived by his children: Lesley (Lantz) Kindred, Versailles; Keith (Cathy) Weldon, St. Louis, Missouri; Joanne (Edward) Trammell, Lexington; eight grandchildren, Hannah Kindred, Sarah Kindred, Bobby Weldon, Mike Weldon, Annie Weldon, Natalie Trammell, Emmy Trammell and Ben Trammell. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 9, at Pisgah Presbyterian Church, 710 Pisgah Pike, Versailles, officiated by Reverend Darryl Baker. Pallbearers are Keith Weldon, Lantz Kindred, Ed Trammell, Bobby Weldon, Mike Weldon, Ben Trammell, Mark Fischer and Eric Fischer. Burial to follow in Pisgah Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 8, at Milward Funeral Directors, 391 Southland Drive, Lexington, Kentucky.
