Art In The Park, Artist Spotlight
Hannah Hughes is the owner of Moon Mountain Gems and Hughes Artistry Studio. She is a young woman following her aspirations of creating ‘one of a kind’ jewelry.
Hannah grew up and still lives in a small eastern Kentucky town. She is attending college for which she is investing her time into getting a geology degree. She describes herself as a rock hound because she loves rocks and minerals. Her hobbies include making beautiful jewelry and spending time with family. Her ultimate goal is to build her business into something she has always dreamed of.
Hannah hand engraves designs and pictures onto mother of pearl. This is also known as scrimshaw. These items are made into pendants for necklaces, bracelets and earrings. She also wire wraps and macrames various rocks and gems, including amethyst, quartz, agate, jasper and more.
She hopes to show people the natural art our earth produces while incorporating her own style.
She likes to bring out the subtle details in the smallest of things. Most of all, she hopes to bring joy to people through her jewelry.
Visit her booth at the 10th annual Art in the Park, on the lawn of the Woodford Inn, on Friday, May 25, from 5 to 9 p.m. or Saturday, May 26, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
