Bat Jackets throw a no-hitter against Frankfort

The Bat Jackets threw a no-hitter against the Frankfort High School Panthers on Wednesday, April 11. WCHS senior Hunter Hilbert started the game and was dominant on the mound. He struck out all nine batters that he faced. WCHS junior Spencer Nauert took over in the fourth inning and struck out five batters to close out the game.

The Jackets scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning on a double by WCHS senior Sam Flora, a single by WCHS junior Griffin Blankenship and senior Luke Neff.

In the bottom of the second, Blankenship tripled to right field to increase the Jackets' lead to nine runs. WCHS senior Bryce Sheets and junior Ben Browning both added an RBI, and Woodford led 13-0 after two innings.

WCHS freshman Brayden Goins tripled in the bottom of the fourth to drive in a pair of runs and WCHS senior Collin Murray drove in the final run of the game on a single to right field.

Blankenship led the team in RBI with three. Flora, Goins and Neff each drove in a pair of runs. The Jackets had 16 hits in the game and stole four bases.

The Bat Jackets crushed Frankfort 17-0 in five innings to open district play on Tuesday, April 10. Woodford led 6-0 at the end of the second inning and only allowed two hits.

After scoring a pair of runs in the top of the first inning, the Bat Jackets scored on a double by Browning and singles by Flora and Johnson.

Browning tripled in the top of the third to increase the Jacket lead to 8-0. The Panthers walked in a pair of Woodford runners to make the score 10-0. The Jackets tacked on six more runs in the inning before Flora flied out to center field to end the inning.

Murray started the game for the Bat Jackets. He pitched two innings allowing two hits and striking out three batters. WCHS sophomore Conner Jackson threw three innings of relief and did not allow a hit while striking out five batters.

Browning led the Jackets at the plate going three for five with four RBI.
