The 2017-2018 Leadership Woodford County class met on April 12 for their monthly class. The topic for the day was “Law and Justice in Woodford County.” The group heard about youth drug and alcohol use statistics from Jill Hargis, Woodford County School social worker, and visited the Versailles Police Department to speak with Chief Fugate and see the 911 call center. They heard from Family Court Judge Lisa Morgan, Versailles City Attorney, Bill Moore, and finished the day with Jailer Michele Rankin with a tour of the Woodford County Detention Center. Leadership Woodford County is sponsored by the Woodford County Cooperative Extension Service and the Woodford County Chamber of Commerce. It provides a forum for leaders and future leaders to study our community and learn the skills they will need to help promote change, improve our quality of life and lead. The program meets monthly through May featuring monthly one-day meetings that highlight different aspects of the community.
